March is Brain Injury Awareness Month, recognized nationally across America.

Did You Know?

  • Every 21 seconds, one person sustains a traumatic brain injury (TBI)…that’s 1.7 million people per year.
  • An estimated 5.3 million Americans – 2% of the U.S. population lives with disabilities resulting from TBI.
  • About 75% of TBIs that occur each year are concussions.
  • Every year there are up to 3.8 million sports-related concussions in the U.S.
  • Veterans advocates estimate that between 10% and 20% of Iraq Veterans – that’s 10,000 – 300,000 service members have some level of TBI.
