fire dept group social media (640x427)Millburn Mayor Robert J. Tillotson accepted the challenge made by the Millburn Fire Department to determine whose culinary skills will reign supreme in a Gumbo Cook-off on Saturday, March 21, 6:30 p.m., at the Millburn Fire Department, 459 Essex St.

This fundraiser, sponsored by Investors Bank, will support the programs and services of Opportunity Project, a program created by and for people with brain injuries who are seeking the next step in their journey to recovery.

The stockpot showdown will be judged by members of the Opportunity Project Clubhouse, and the community is invited to stop in and taste the results for themselves. For those who don’t want to choose sides, there will be a family-friendly dinner buffet with something for every taste, including macaroni & cheese, cornbread and desserts.

Palette cleansers will include entertainment by the Millburn High School Jazz Quartet and a Firehouse safety talk for kids, as well as crayons and coloring books to keep the little ones entertained. There will also be a 50/50 and a silent auction.

Cost is $25, tickets must be purchased in advance. All proceeds will support the Opportunity Project Clubhouse.
