cultureofhealthWe are pleased to announce the expansion of the full time nutrition, health and wellness programs here at OP. Through a Merck Foundation Grant we provide nutrition counseling for our members along with multiple nutrition education classes and healthy cooking classes weekly to support members individual nutrition goals.

We are now able to expand our Health and Wellness Program thanks to a grant from the Healthcare Foundation of NJ. This grant will allow us to hire a part time occupational therapist and nurse consultant in order to meet our members needs and help them reach their goals. This grant will also enable us to offer additional cooking classes with Chef Dan Frey  from the Diabetes Foundation. In these classes members learn about diabetes, and how to make diabetes ‘friendly’ meals. Lastly, we will also be able to offer additional yoga classes instructed by Debby Kaminsky from the Newark Yoga Movement. These classes provide modified ways members can be physically active.

One of the goals of our nutrition, health and wellness programs is to promote a Culture of Health at Opportunity Project. Visit our Facebook and Twitter pages to stay up to date on our #CultureOfHealth activities.
