March is Brain Injury Awareness Month!

As part of our Brain Injury Awareness 2020 campaign, we are hosting awareness and prevention programs to help educate the community about brain injury, recovery and the need for prevention.

Did you know?

– Over 1.5 million Americans sustain a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) each year.

– More than 5 million Americans live with long-term disabilities as a result of brain injury and millions more suffer from the residual effects of less severe TBIs.

– A TBI can have lasting effects. These effects could include impaired memory, coordination, vision, hearing and emotional functioning.

Your support will help OP continue to offer life-changing programs and services that build cognitive skills, vocational skills, and self-esteem for individuals with brain injury.

•  Congressional Brain Injury Awareness Day – March 4. Wear Green today in support! Join us at the OP Clubhouse at 11am for the Brain Injury Awareness Month Proclamation by Mayor Jackie Benjamin Lieberberg of Millburn. And visit the OP table at the Millburn Free Public Library today and all month long to pick up brain injury prevention flyers and meet some of our members.
  • Chipotle Mexican Grill Fundraiser Night – March 11. Dine between 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm at the Chipotle at 697 Morris Turnpike in Springfield, mention ‘BRAIN INJURY AWARENESS FUNDRAISER’ to the cashier and OP will receive 33% of the proceeds.
• The signature event, Healthy Brain – Healthy Me Day – March 25 10:30 am to 2:00 pm ONLINE EVENT. As the OP Clubhouse is currently closed, this will be an online event. An informative and fun-filled wellness day sponsored by The Fidelco Group and Newark Beth Israel Medical Center focusing on boosting brain health and overall well-being.
• Our most popular event, the Annual Blue Jean Day Program, takes place any day! Designate a day for employees to wear jeans or green for the cause, and be entered into our raffle.
• Kings Food Markets Benefit Shopping Week is March 22 to March 28. Shop at  Kings Food Markets in New Jersey, mention code ‘BRAIN INJURY AWARENESS’ and OP will receive 5% of the sales from your purchase (up to $2,500).
